The Kent Food app connects you with all the people who make living & eating local possible.

Your chance to be part of the county's first food app.

The Kent Food app for iPhone and iPad will be free to download from the App Store.

2 million people live in Kent with 28% of the population owning an iPhone or iPad this represents a huge potential market!

We have been funded by Kent Downs & Marshes Leader who support rural initiatives and are keen to link small producers to the wider population.

The Kent Food app aims to showcase as many Kent producers, restaurants, markets and small holders as possible. Why Farming Matters in Kent has been working with Produced in Kent, Kent Farmers Market Association the NFU and other rural organisations to come up with a comprehensive list that can benefit from this new initiative.

What does this mean for me?

The Kent Food app will allow users to find details of your organisation, location, contact details and products sold. Users will also be able to find farmers markets and restaurants that sell or source local produce.

What does it cost?

Your entry on this app will be FREE for at least 6 months.

The project needs to be self-supporting, so in order to maintain and update the app and roll out to Android platforms the cost to continue to be represented is likely to be £25 - £40 per annum. You will have the opportunity to opt out after the initial free listing period.

Free for the first 6 months then a reasonable £25 - £40 annual fee if you choose to stay with us.

How does it work?

Producers will be initially assigned a category; meat, dairy, fruit, veg etc.

There will be room for an image, what you produce, directions if you sell from the farm gate and a list of stockists who also feature on the app.

We can also include any restaurants that you supply to.

Buy Local

Shops, outlets, farmers markets. We include products and producers from Kent that are also on this app. We will be able to add directions, opening times and dates. If you supply restaurants we can link to those and we are also able to add any recipes.

We can only include restaurants that are committed to using local produced food. We can include typical menu items that use local produce, with the producers listed. We would very much like to feature recipes from the kitchen.
